Japan's National Flower and Cherry Blossom Trees

The cherry blossom is Japan’s national flower and is known as “Sakura” in Japanese. These blossoms are a symbol of renewal and hope. Cherry Blossoms also provides nectar for insects such as bees and butterflies. The oldest cherry tree is around 2,000 years old and they belong to the rose family of flowering plants Rosaceae which includes roses, apples, pears, cherries and strawberries.
