National Pet Show London

I went to the National Pet Show at London ExCel with a friend on the 6th of May 2017, it is one of my favourite events throughout the year because of the dog demonstrations in Superdogs Live, Hills School 4 Dogs and Dog Acitivity Ring and you have the opportunity to meet some beautiful cat breeds. If you are an animal lover or interested in getting a pet for your family it is a great event to go to as there are a variety of animals from dogs to cats, birds, ponies, donkeys and reptiles that you can meet and find out more about from breeders.

Even though I photograph the event each year one of the things I always enjoy the most and that make the event is the stunt dogs, golden retrievers and dog dancing, they are all talented dogs in their own right.

Stunt Dogs, Rescue To Celebrity

Gill Raddings and her company Stunt Dogs and Animals attend different events each year including the National Pet Show. They hold demonstrations where you can meet some of the dogs and learn more about the training that is involved for film work. I have got to know some of the dogs that started out as rescue dogs and have ended up featuring in programmes and films alongside well known actors. One of the dogs Paddy is the resident dog on Midsomer Murders and has featured in Beauty and the Beast, it was his first filming job.

Southern Golden Retriever Display Team

The Golden Retriever Display Team was set up by the Southern Golden Retriever Society, they have been around since 1977 and cover Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and London. They take part in events throughout the year, I always look forward to watching them as golden retrievers are one of the dogs I have always been fond of. The owners perform routines with their dogs in the Dog Activity Ring, even though I have watched their routines for a few years I enjoy it as much as I did the first time.

Dog Dancing, Freestyle Heelwork To Music

One of the things I enjoy the most about photographing events such as the National Pet Show are dog dancing demonstrations as each routine is different. Some of my favourite performances are Lucy Heath and her lovely dogs Trip Hazard, Superdog Indie and Foxy and Nicci Hindson and her border collie Nala. Their performances are fun to watch and it shows in the demonstrations how much they enjoy dog dancing and heelwork to music.

Lucy Heath and Nicci Hindson are dog trainers. If you would like more information on the training they do, please visit their websites
