Westie Pets As Therapy

I went to London this week for a photo shoot with Louise and her lovely Westie Starlett. I was looking forward to meeting Starlett as she is a Pets Therapy Dog. She passed her training assessment in 2016 and visits the elderly at a sheltered housing establishment in Hammersmith once a week. Louise says "They really love her visits when she goes to see them on Friday afternoons." During the photo shoot Starlett loved running through the Autumn leaves and always got excited when she had the opportunity to chase squirrels up trees. I used my Nikon D300s camera and Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 lens to photograph Starlett.

Pets As Therapy is a national charity who provide a variety of visiting services and do training assessment with dogs. If your dog passes some of the jobs they do is visit special needs schools, care homes, hospitals and hospices. They give comfort to people that have health conditions and illnesses such as Autism, Dementia and Stroke. The charity also have an read2dogs scheme where the dogs that visit schools bring confidence to children and help them overcome reading in front of others.
